Park mixes with parking: a strip of park slopes down to meet strips of parking, and you walk up and down the park into and out of the parking garage. Strips of park are lifted up and pulled out to the street. Private leans on public: the sidewalk around the site peels up to make arches that support the raised strips of park. Novartis comes out to meet you: you drive, walk, into the campus under a flying park. The lifting of the private park allows the public sidewalk inside. The sidewalk makes a public plaza in the middle of the private park. The plaza is a floor of strips that make seats and ramps and steps over the parking garage. The public plaza makes private buildings. At the end of the driveway, strips of plaza loop to make the gatehouse, which loops over the road to make the visitors’ waiting room. The waiting room lowers over a stairway down to the parking garage.
