Lay a new façade over the old: a new face, a second skin. Roll. The curtain falls down over the building in rolls – like fabric that retains the memory of the roll it was stored on.l Open And Close. The mesh is metal fabric; it’s flexible, like fabric. Inside each office, a person pushes a button: the drape is gathered up, the roll of the façade opens like a mouth. It opens just enough to bring in the sunlight, to make the privacy, that a person wants. One button opens one section of the façade; another button opens the next section – the mouth stretches, across the face of the building, the mouth opens wider. A New Life. Now that the façade rolls in and out, now that the façade breathes in and out, now that the façade bulges, people can fit inside the façade. Under the skin of the building, on each office floor, extend a platform, a ramp, a balcony, across the building. Performance Screen. From inside each office, people step up to the windowsill and out onto the balcony. Walking on the balcony, people are enclosed inside a tunnel of mesh: shadows of figures, a shadow-play.
