HIGHWAY HOUSE-&-GARDEN
Sao Paolo 2002
A community-center, lifted off the street, for people forced to live on the street.
The sloped modules cling to the underside of an elevated highway and continue off to the side. Each module functions as a truss. It’s lit from within and, as a by-product, functions as a lamp beneath and alongside the highway.
The modules underneath the highway are roofed by the underside of the highway; they function as lounges and service centers. The modules beside the highway have no roofs; they function as parks.
